Circlegrammetry: Circular Photogrammetry Grids for 3D Capture & Gaussian Splatting

Circlegrammetry covers an entire polygon with a grid of inward-facing circular orbits. Instead of parallel lines with a nadir camera, the drone flies overlapping circles while the camera looks toward the center of each orbit—capturing every structure from all sides.

Gaussian splatting and 3D reconstruction need viewpoints that wrap around geometry. Circlegrammetry gives every building and terrain feature a full ring of camera angles, with the overlap percentage controlling spacing between circles and adjustable circle radius and tilt angle. The mission exports as a DJI KMZ waypoint file.
